Cycling, Kilbarchan and news of an interview

This is a long weekend holiday in Scotland so Katrina has Friday and Monday off school. So on Friday we went for a cycle ride to our friends near Greenock. It was 15miles each way so we had a good ride and a good day.

Yesterday was our club's, Kilbarchan AAC, George Cummings Relay at Houston. I was hoping to be able to run but decided against it as my foot is still a little sore. I went along to help and take a video of the day. It was good to see Marco running with Carscube. I included a clip of him running! It was also good to meet his teammate Ben who has been really helpful with some advice on my foot.

Kilbarchan had a good day with 2nd place in both the Men's and the Women's races.

Loch Ness Marathon is a week today and I'm planning to run BUT if my foot is sore during the run I am going to stop. I don't want to set myself back by running on it if it's not right and causing more damage. I don't like the idea of running with this thought in mind but the alternative is not to run at all and I like that thought even less!

On the job front - after I posted my thoughts on Thursday I received another call from West Dunbartonshire and they have offered me two days a week as an Active Schools Co-ordinator which will be great experience. Then yesterday I had a letter from East Dunbartonshire saying I have an interview on Wednesday 8 October for a full time Active Schools Co-ordinators post. I had given up on this application as I'd not heard anything for about 3 weeks. So it's been an encouraging week on the job hunting front.

John

I work in a Council in Scotland and sometimes we are notoriously slow in recruitment. When I applied for my job it was months before I heard anything more!

All the best

Chris

Good news about the job - I reckon you'll be ideal given your sports, teaching and pastoral background. Good luck with the marathon, it sounds like you are taking the right approach.
